Ninja Creami coffee ice cream — high-protein, low-calorie, genuinely creamy
A protein coffee ice cream you can make in the Ninja Creami with real espresso flavour and no iciness. The recipe plus how to control the coffee strength.
Coffee ice cream is one of the easiest flavours to get right in the Ninja Creami — and one of the best-value, because a good protein coffee ice cream tastes like an affogato for about 200 calories.
The recipe
Makes 1 pint · ~200 cal & 26g protein per serving
- 1 scoop (30g) vanilla protein powder
- 1 cup (240ml) milk of choice
- ½ cup (120g) Greek yogurt
- 1–2 tbsp instant espresso powder
- 2 tbsp allulose
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Method:
- Dissolve the espresso powder in a splash of warm milk, then whisk or blend everything smooth.
- Pour into a pint, freeze flat 24 hours.
- Temper 5–10 minutes, run Lite Ice Cream.
- Crumbly? Splash of milk, Re-spin.
Getting the coffee flavour right
Use instant espresso powder, not ground coffee. Ground coffee leaves grit; instant espresso dissolves completely and gives a cleaner, stronger flavour. Dissolving it in warm liquid first prevents any speckled, undissolved bits.
Espresso powder is your strength dial. 1 tbsp gives a soft, latte-like coffee note; 2 tbsp gives a bold espresso ice cream. When you go stronger, nudge up the salt and sweetener — bitterness needs balancing.
Vanilla rounds it out. A teaspoon of vanilla softens the edge of the coffee and makes it taste more like a coffee-shop dessert than black coffee.
Variations
- Mocha: add 1 tbsp cocoa powder and a little extra sweetener.
- Caramel macchiato: swirl 1 tsp sugar-free caramel through after spinning.
- Affogato style: scoop into a glass and pour a fresh espresso shot over it.
- Tiramisu: add a splash of rum extract and dust with cocoa after spinning.
Why it comes out creamy
The Greek yogurt and protein powder supply the casein and protein that block ice crystals, and allulose keeps the freezing point low so it stays soft. That is the same texture logic behind every reliable Creami recipe — coffee is just one of the more forgiving flavours because there is no fruit water or cocoa to fight.
For the coffee, mocha and tiramisu versions with exact ratios — plus 47 other flavours — the Ninja Creami Bible has them all worked out, every recipe under 300 calories. €17.99, instant download.
